The conservation of ducks involves preservation of wetlands that comprise their natural habitats. Every year the wetland acreage decreases by 100,000 acres. This happens due to uncontrolled encroachment by man and urban expansion. Once the natural habitat is destroyed, the birds either die or are forced to leave.

Conservation involves a great number of activities. Those are intended for establishing control over the expansion of towns and saving the natural environment. Conservation organizations are supposed to provide information on current events in the world on duck hunting. They also define and outline hunting rules and regulations and provide hunting gear and facilities.

All conservation specialists are experienced duck hunters. They gain comprehensive knowledge and ability to identify hundreds of various species of ducks through lifelong and professional firsthand practice. They use different types of hunting facilities, such as 'duck calls', small tubular instruments that produce sounds similar to voices of ducks.

Buying a proper call or a decoy is not a matter of a few minutes. It takes a great deal of site studying efforts to define the concrete species found in this particular area and their feeding, mating and nesting habits. Picking the proper call is crucial. It is also necessary to arrange decoys correctly, which also takes time because of the need to determine regular duck congregation areas.

Duck conservation organizations not only seek to benefit from their activities but also to keep the benefits of those for future generations. Those benefits include rehabilitation and preservation and rehabilitation of wetlands, maintaining old hunting traditions, which make up a whole inalienable element of national culture, and, finally, saving the diversity of ducks on earth.
